Not sure why they won't play.

Maybe look for log files in /var/log directory that might provide a clue to the issue.

When I search the files on the server in explorer they have the extensions, e.g. "JPG", however if I go to the Amahi files being sent to the TVs these do not include the file extensions and so the TV is unable to read the file as it doesn't know the format.

Also I am unsure how to get the details from the /var/log directories.

I have the dlna App on my HDA.

I will see if I can find what log files to review.

Just another note that may help. I can view the file sin my had server, but even on my PC I get a permissions error when I try to access them though the dnla server?

I checked my setup and did not find any logs to review.

Recommend you try the reset share permissions . Click the wrench/screw driver icon for the shares that you are using with dlna App.

You may need to restart the dlna App or reboot the machine.
