SOLVED: DLNA server doesn't see all shares

Postby jkbuckethead » Sun Jul 09, 2017 9:33 pm

I just installed the DLNA app. I edited the config file to include three shares containing videos - movies, TV and videos (for misc stuff). The lines in the config file are exactly the same except for movies/tv/videos at the end of the paths. The paths match the share paths listed in amahi/shares. When enabled, only the movies and tv share content shows up in DLNA; I get nothing from the videos share.

The dlna wiki mentioned the possibility of some folders not being seen due to permission issues. I tried the command in the wiki, but this did not improve things. I used ls -al to check the permissions, and the videos share did have different permissions than the others. I'm no expert, but as i read it the owner (beeaitch, that's me) has read, write and execute permissions while the other access levels lack read and most other permissions. Thinking this might be the issue, I did some research and found out how to change permissions. I added RWX permission to both group and other. Unfortunately, even after changing the folder permissions, I still get nothing from the VIDEOS share in dlna. As soon as I add the MOVIES or TV share it starts getting scanned and added to dlna, but nothing happens with VIDEOS.

    drwxrwxr-x 249 beeaitch users 12288 Jul 9 15:39 tv
    drwx-w---- 8 beeaitch users 4096 Jul 7 14:10 videos
  • AFTER
    drwxrwxr-x 8 beeaitch users 4096 May 21 20:14 movies
    drwxrwxr-x 249 beeaitch users 12288 Jul 9 15:39 tv
    drwxrwxrwx 8 beeaitch users 4096 Jul 7 14:10 videos

Obviously I could probably fix this by moving content from one share to another, but this defeats the purpose of creating separate shares in the first place.

Any ideas?

Reset the permissions for the share from the Dashboard. You can see a reference on the storage and file sharing wiki page.

Also you may need to restart the DLNS and Samba servers. A reboot of the HDA will do this as well.
