SOLVED: Bought Plex app, can't get it to work

I just paid 10 bucks for the Plex application, but I'm struggling getting it to work. I can login, but i only see my other plex servers. I saw the workaround to go to http://hda:32400/web/index.html, but plex only see's my other PMS, not the one on amahi. I tried to look through the forums, but it seems to always take you back to the https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Plex_Media_Server page which look like I have to do a bunch of workarounds to make plex work. Isn't that what the 10 convenience fee was for? Am I missing something? I have my HDA set up as a DHCP server, I'm not on a VPN, when I try to access plex via my HDA IP address, I get "This XML file does not appear to have any style information associated with it. The document tree is shown below." Thanks for any help.

We just recently added a "proxy" directive because the Plex Media Server has a bug and cannot or will not take proper DNS names.

This gets rid of the work-around.

HOWEVER, the work-around should work for you. if it's at

Code: Select all

http://hda:...
.. it's the server in your HDA! That is not the "other" PMS, but the Amahi one.

I don't know what you mean by "other" ... presumably you have more and this web interface can see them?

We (in the core team) do not use PMS, so when it comes to using it, we cannot provide much advice. Maybe post more details of what you see (or come to IRC)?

Sorry for the late reply, but plex has been working. You can close this, if you like.

Thanks for the update. Do you have an idea of what happened to make it work?

I wish I did, but unfortunately, I wasn't able to pinpoint any one thing I did. I wish I knew.
