Updating Plex?

Postby jkbuckethead » Sat Jul 09, 2016 6:10 pm

I noticed that the Amahi Plex app was updated to version 1.0 12 days ago. I have the stock Amahi one-click Plex installed. I thought I read somewhere that Amahi updates once a week. If that is true, it seems my Plex should have updated by now. I'd like to avoid removing and reinstalling if possible so I don't lose my database and configuration data.

Do I need to do something to update, or will it happen automatically?

Where did you get that info? We only update the app when users submit a bug report indicating an update is needed.

Also we only update the latest Amahi release which is Amahi 9, Fedora 23.
Do I need to do something to update, or will it happen automatically?
The update will be automatic when we do update the app.

I guess I could have been more clear. I said that I thought Amahi checked for updates periodically. I didn't mean that there were weekly updates.

In this case, I know that the Plex app was pdated 2 weeks ago. You say updates are automatic, but my installed version is not updated. Is there something I need to do to trigger the update or do I just need to wait a little longer?

You can do:

Code: Select all

yum clean all yum update
It should then pick it up.

Hi

I have the same problem. Uninstall/Reinstall did not work - got the same old version again.
The yum update did not work either...

Any ideas?

Thanks
(Amahi 8 Fedora 21)

Sorry, but the updated version is only available for Amahi 9 on Fedora 23 as I stated in an earlier post.

Per the Maintenance Support ONLY status, all Amahi updates (i.e. platform, applications, etc) are halted.

Thanks for the info

What is the release schedule? I set up the system on Amahi 8 only 6 months ago and now I have to reinstall everything again. When is Amahi 10 planned? And another kind request: please make upgrading easier!

best regards

What is the release schedule?
Currently we don't really have a release schedule. In the past, we skipped a Fedora version between releases. However, we have streamlined our process a bit that allows us to do releases for consecutive Fedora releases. Don't recall the Fedora release schedule, but it's more frequent that we prefer.
When is Amahi 10 planned?
We are in the early stages of planning and development now. Not estimate as to when, but we are currently looking at Fedora 24 as the OS version.
And another kind request: please make upgrading easier!
We are trying to make it easier and have made great strides in that area. Now that we are able to do more frequent releases, most have been able to upgrade; i.e. Fedora 21 to Fedora 23 has worked well for most.

Is there anything specific you have in mind to make it easier? Please keep in mind this is Linux, not Windows, so it's a more complicated process to upgrade Amahi and OS versions.
