Good Evening -

Just setup a new Amahi 8 server today (Day 0!). Did a new install from ubuntu/Amahi6 I've been running for a couple years.

Everything is up and running with the exception of Plex Media Server.

I did one-click install from the dashboard and it shows that plex installed correctly.
But when i click on the link (http://plexms. ...) it gives me a 503 error.

I dug in a bit and noticed that /var/hda/web-apps/plexms/html directory is completely empty, so the install didn't happen.

I cleaned yum caches / update /etc.
then i tried yum install amahi-plex

It's reporting back that no package amahi-plex is NOT available.

Thoughts?

Did you check the status of Plex Media Server? You will notice it's in ALPHA status for Fedora 21, so not available.

Sorry we do not have it ready yet. It's on the list to get worked soon.

Recommend you check the status of apps before installing them. BTW, if the app is not LIVE it's preceded with an * in the "Available Apps" section of your HDA.

Ok, that's a critical app for me so i'll look into carefully installing it manually (I see other issues re: installing this directly causing issues with Amahi).

Understand. I was hoping we'd have it ready for the release of Amahi 8, but did not work out.

The Plex Media Server wiki guidance might be helpful.

Actually, the end result turned out great! I forgot to uninstall the "empty" amahi-plex server prior to manually installing PlexMS.

I followed the installation instructions for a manual install of plex on Amahi as per the wiki instructions here: https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Plex_Media_Server - everything works just fine.

But the bonus is that the Plex app still appears on my Amahi dashboard and jumps me off into plex, and the DNS redirects for http://plexms work just great! I just off the autoupdate in yum and plex will update itself.
