Ok let's check some file locations and permissions. Check to see that /var/cache/minidlna exists:

Code: Select all

ll /var/cache/minidlna
It should look like this:
drwxr-xr-x 3 minidlna minidlna 4096 Nov 9 2014 art_cache
-rw-r--r-- 1 minidlna minidlna 16236544 Jun 26 19:48 files.db
Also ensure your shares appear correctly in the /etc/minidlna.conf file. Are they as follows and the permissions correct:
/var/hda/files/music
/var/hda/files/movies
/var/hda/files/pictures
Next check to ensure you do not have any firewalls active in your network that would be blocking ports. That could prevent the exposure of the minidlna server.

OK thanks. I found the problem: There was an AirPort Extreme "hidden" in the network which had DHCP on an managed all the leases. I turned it off and voilá everything is working properly :-)

Thanks again for your efforts and your time. It is most appreciated!
