I have installed plex on amahi via one click installation. Added up a folder for videos and pictures. From the client it takes forever to stream videos and photos from hda. What is going on? Sometimes it completely refuses to play anything or play a little bit then it stopes. Plus it takes all my ram and it makes my ubuntu 12.04 slow as hell. Please advise me how to troubleshoot this problem.

Does the Ubuntu HDA have all the latest OS updates? Is your network connection slow, i.e. using wireless to stream? There are many variables that could cause such an issue.

Just recently i did ubuntu updates, seems everything is up to date. All my connections are hard wired. Stuck on that.

No errors in log files while installing plex

Not sure what the cause could be. Have you tried searching the internet for a similar problem?

Have you tried streaming with DLNA app? Wonder if you would have the same issue.

just the update of what I could accomplished so far. I have this vizio co-star box based on android that attached to my tv. I've installed plex client on it that stream from hda plex server, didn't work well. It takes forever to stream. So I bought one click install DLNA server and the installation process was successful - server is up and running. Back to my vizio box. I've installed DLNA app on it, connected to amahi DLNA and tried to browse folders - they were empty for some reason, when I know they not. Then i've disconnected from amahi DLNA and connected to plex server which is also available on my hda. Same problem occurred streaming is horrible. I also have samba server running on my hda. So i tried to use Es File Explorer that has smb capability, got the connection and it worked perfectly. Kinda lost now, can't troubleshoot this issue. Could it be a conflict between the servers?

List of servers I have running on hda.
SSH server, SAMBA, Plex, DLNA.
