Free UPnP server

Postby Irish1384 » Mon Jun 10, 2013 10:16 am

I'll start off by saying I'm new to Linux but am looking forward to using it to turn an old PC into a home server. What I want to use it for is a central location to access files from and be able to stream music and videos over my network or the internet to connected/ logged-in devices. I have a Playstation 3 that will be the primary user of video streaming but also have Macintosh and Windows laptops that I would like to stream to, and if possible iOS devices. Will Universal Media Server run with Amahi or does it require applications from the Amahi store? If Universal Media Server won't work, are there recommended applications to use instead? Thank you for the help!

Most apps will work with Amahi, but make take a little time tweaking them. I believe we have a few PS3 apps that should work as well, not sure if they have a convenience fee or not.

Amahi DLNA, also known as miniDLNA, or ReadyMedia, works with PS3.

UShare also works with PS3.

I use both all the time.... well worth any convenience fees.
