Permissions where, i.e. for which app? And would the firstadminuser be my login name? And what is the command to change those?
Thanks a lot for your help.

Permissions for shares must be the Amahi first admin user as noted in the dashboard. Check /var/hda/files and if any folders/files are root or apache, then that can cause issues with DLNA or any app that needs access to those files (i.e. CouchPotato).
To change the permissions, do the following (i.e. first admin user is tom and share folder is music):
For Ubuntu, this command must be preceded with sudo. Fedora requires you to be root user.

Code: Select all
chmod -R tom:users /var/hda/files/music

From terminal do:
It should indicate who owns the folders in that location.
Code: Select all
ll /var/hda/files

I used the command chown instead of chmod. However, is it possible that now Transmission cannot write into the Torrent folder anymore?

From my Windows client I cannot access the network drive (mirrored the Torrents folder) anymore...

There is definitely an issue with Transmission:
1. the server is showing in the dashboard as not running
2. I cannot access the shared drive anymore after changing permissions
3. I get the following error in Transmission for a download that was still running
Error: Permission denied (/var/hda/files/torrents/FOLDER/FILENAME)

And I can still see Pictures and Music on my WDLXTV but cannot access the Movies although I have changed the permission...

Sorry, I meant chown and not chmod
For the torrents folder, it may be apache:users vs firstadminuser:users. If you reset the permissions back to what they were for torrents, that should fix the issue.
Also, are you using Greyhole on that share? Sometimes it does not play well with apps.

Am not using Greyhole (yet) but I do not remember the user before, could it have been simply 500 (like one could have 775 or 777?) and why does the Movies folder still not work if it gets the same permissions as Pictures and Music?
