Tin can jukebox has been hanging on me and I can't get rid of the error.

It looks like one long page of random charters (like looking at a .jpg file with a text editor) charters (image below) with the top saying "Failed SQL" and the below all these characters it says this error: "Invalid query: Got a packet bigger than 'max_allowed_packet' bytes
Updating Catalog...

Then you can see everything as normal under the pages and pages of text.

An ideas?

Recommend you check the app install log. It is located in /var/log/ and called amahi-app-installer.log.

Could this issue be due to an incompatible image format or maybe one that the app cannot handle?
