DLNA steaming MKV with Blu-Ray Player or X360

Hello everyone,
I backed up most of my Blu-Ray movies(MKV) and DVDs(AVI) to my Amahi Server with the convenience of my parents not having to bother me to watch said movies. Rather I wish for them to just either use the Xbox 360 or the Sony (BDP-BX57) Blu-Ray player I got them a while back.
I have looked around but all the posts I have found are old and simply say to just convert using handbrake or something along those lines.
I understand that the Xbox 360 cannot play MKV files without them being either trans-coded over the network or completely converted.
Which brings me to, is there a way to trans-code them to my xbox from Fedora/Amahi?
Note: The Xbox 360 does see Amahi, the folders, and only the AVI files I have. The MKV files are not shown at all.
As for the Blu-Ray player, which is what I prefer they use, also finds the Amahi server but for the MKV files, it says that it is unsupported and the files do not show. In the product description it says that MKV is supported, as well as DLNA.
If there is anything that I am missing or any tips that one can give, it would be very much appreciated.
Thank you.
P.S. I am a novice with Linux, so if any solutions involve anything to do with Fedora itself it would be helpful if I got either detailed help with that or some tutorials of some sort.
