How to upgrade Plex Media Server?

Sorry, this is confusing for a newbie. I installed the Amahi Plex app. The Plex Media Server says an update is available.

My version: 2.4.16 (Web), 0.9.12.8 (Server)
Update Available: 0.9.12.13.1464

I read through other posts on this topic and I am not sure if this is supposed to update automatically, or if I have to wait for a repo, or something I can do manually? I don't want to break anything because I have it working nicely. But I like to keep my software on the latest releases.

Using the Amahi application requires you wait for an update from the Amahi repo. Sorry but if you are not running Amahi 8, there will be no further updates provided to this application. We only provide updates to the latest stable release.

If there is a new version available, please submit a bug report.

Hi, thank you for the reply and helping me to understand. I am running Amahi 8. I do not have a specific need for the latest release, other than to just have the latest software installed and clear the "upgrade available" message. So I will pass on submitting the bug report.

One other question... does Amahi update itself automatically when there is a new repo? Or do I need to check somewhere for updates?

Amahi will update automatically within the current version. When we move to Amahi 9, that will be a manual process.

So is there a way to manually update plex on amahi using the amahi plex app updates? my platform version says 7.4.1.1 I am not really wanting to have to reload my server just to upgrade to the latest amahi my plex is currently working with no issues so I tend to be on the if it an broke don't fix it side of the camp but if I can get the latest version of the plex server it would be nice.

A manual update could be done, but we cannot provide support. The only Amahi version we provide support for is Amahi 8.
