Upgrade miniDlna

Postby TMDolphin » Mon Mar 18, 2013 2:32 am

Hi there :)
have seen the section on how to update the miniDlna in the Wiki, but it is not filled yet. Can someone give some advice how to do so?
I have a Samsung SmartTV and can't disable subtitles there, so i have them even if i don't need them :( As i have seen that this has been changed in version 1.0.23 of the miniDlna i want to upgrade. but i'm not so fit in Linux as i know how to do that. Is it enough to just replace the amahi-dlna file in /usr/bin with the static version of the new release..?

thanks a lot
best regards TMD

What OS are you running? The Ubuntu version should be the latest.

I believe upgrading the file indicated will do it. Ensure the file permissions match the original file. Best to rename it just in case there are issues.

Might need to compare the .conf files to ensure formatting and options have not changed.

Thank you BigFoot for your reply. I'm still running Fedora 14 so i've only 1.0.18 installed yet. There are two additional files in the "static" package of the minidlna which are two libraries. (jpeg and avutil)
These have to be present or in the same folder as the minidlna file?
No further "installation" is needed? So Config i will check. Let's see whether its fixed then. Its really strange to have Subtitles if you don't want them ;)

Not sure those libs can be used. Try without.
