You can try sharing a folder. I am not familiar with Boxee, but you can search the forums and possibly the wiki for a solution.

Does Boxee work with UPNP or DLNA

If so you can install MiniDLNA, to stream/view video, muisc and images.

My 5 Boxee Boxes work great with SMB. I heard NFS is quicker/better/made of magic fairy dust, but cannot find an "easy" way to "convert" my shares yet. As of now, no real reason besides wanting to be like all of the cool kids....

1.5 firmware just got released to beta testers of BB, and it's much nicer/quicker.

Sorry to revive an older thread, but for those who may be looking. I'm recently new to Amahi and have jumped in with both feet.

I concur that SMB works just fine for Boxee. Depending on your permissions you may have to log in or open up that good ol guest account on your HDA, which is what I opted to do.

I have no experience with NFS so I can't comment.

Now, I also have 2 Xbox360s on my network so I streaming to them would not work by simply having an accessible share. I debated back n forth but ultimately installed Amahi DLNA. This works for the Boxee as well and with no log in.

I've tried them both but only briefly so I can't say if one performs better than the other.

I am interested in DNLA, but not sure what the min specs are. I have a quad core older CPU, so perhaps that's enough.

That should be fine. I was streaming with an old dual core and had no problems.
