MediaTomb - "could not list directory - permission denied"

Postby DragonQ » Tue Nov 08, 2011 4:05 am

I have installed MediaTomb (manually) on my Amahi server but I can't get it to work. I have set it up to run over eth0 and have started the service. I can access the web interface via http://hda:50500 but when I browse to /mnt/samba (where my greyhole shares are mounted locally), I cannot access any of the subdirectories, which are my shares (e.g. /mnt/samba/Video). It gives me this error:

Error: could not list directory /mnt/samba/Video : Permission denied

I have tried the following:

chmod 777 /mnt/samba/Video

and restarting the service but it still gives me this error. What am I doing wrong?

For accessing shares with Greyhole and mount_local_shares running, I thought you would access /var/hda/files/video or whatever instead of the mount point. Have you tried that?

Also, check the wiki guidance.
