LG TV Compatibility

I have a LG 42ld550, which can play almost all vieo formats i want off of a USB external hard drive. I have installed amahi on an old computer of mine enabled Ushare and SSH and cifs. I can see the files I want to play however after a long pause it quits on me before displaying any video. Question is --- because i can play the video off a USB does that mean eventually if i battle hard enough with settings and apps will i get them to play off the network or are these two forms of playback totally separate and it could end up that the tv is the thing lacking and is incompatible with network playback.

...opened terminal yum searched dlna...got amahi-dlna.i686...yum installed that ... boom headshot worked out of da box
