can I start music files on the local computer from a remote computer?

oh, do you want to use your hda as a stereo?
if so, that's a cool idea.
i am sure it's not too hard, i think, though i am not aware of anything to do that. i think maybe we could add it to amahitunes (which, btw, it's in alpha in amahi 5).
maybe others are aware of programs to do this. there has to be a bunch of programs to do this!

yes..!
i have, in my house, one little speaker in every room and I would change music or create playlists using my eeepc while I move home.

VLC can do what you want. Have a look here:

The examples are simple and not very attractive, but can be customized.

very thanks.. this solution is very good.. there is a little problem with interfaces , it's very thin.. but i try the application for iPhone "VLCremote"

I believe Tin Can Jukebox would fulfill this requirement. It is currently in alpha status for F12 due to a php compatibility issue. I have used it and it allows you to play music locally and has a built in play mechanism as well.
