I've got this old PC kicking around and thought I'd like try installing Amahi on a small SATA hard drive in it. It runs an AMD Athlon 64 X2 Dual core 3800+ (2.0Ghz) processor and has 3 GB of ram on a MSI MS-6702 motherboard. It has an onboard Realtek PCI GBE controller as well.
I want to share media, other files and maybe store backups over the network from a 12TB hard disk if it's possible.
Since it's pretty old hardware, is it even worth trying?
TIA
Worth installing Amahi on old PC?

Re: Worth installing Amahi on old PC?
Just back to post some results.
I have been running an Android TV box as a server, using an app called Lan Drive-SAMBA Server & Client and a USB 3.0 connected hard disk. The device only has a 10/100mpbs Ethernet port.
Using LAN speed test I compared that setup to the old computer running Amahi on a SATA connected disk drive.
Testing was done from a 5Ghz WiFi connected laptop.
Android TV box speed
Write Speed: 3.10 Mbps
Read Speed: 40.12 Mbps
Old computer with Amahi as file server
Write Speed: 65.69 Mbps
Read Speed: 157.36 Mbps
Does this seem like a respectable result for the hardware I have?
The same USB 3.0 drive transfers at 250 MB/s when connected directly to my laptop.

Seems reasonable to me.
I suppose as long as you are satisfied with it, that's all that matters.
