Adding a second hard drive - manual instructions

Postby pulkitagrawal » Thu Oct 15, 2020 9:32 pm

Hi All,

I am stuck a little bit following the manual instructions to add a second hard drive.

My box, already had 2 X 2 TB hard drives installed. I can see the drives listed under the drives section in my HDA, but during installation, I had only selected one of the drives to install the software on as per the instructions.

Now, I am trying to add the second hard drive, and I followed the instructions precisely. I am stuck at this step nano /etc/fstab.

When I run this command I get
Ignoring /dev/sdb1 - already in /etc/fstab as UUID=

The manual steps asks me to take a note of the UUID and add it to /etc/fstab, but the UUID is blank and it is already in /etc/fstab. The notable difference is that /dev/sda1 & /dev/sda3 have UUID's listed.

I cannot move to the next step. Stuck here. Please suggest. Thanks in advance.

It sounds like the drive already exists. Run this command and share the output:

Code: Select all

cat /etc/fstab

If you did not deselect the drive when installing Fedora, it's already mounted most likely.

You may need to unmount it before mounting it in the location you desire.
