second router

Postby dendulis » Mon Oct 05, 2009 11:11 pm

Hello, probably somebody could help me. My problem is next: I have HDA connected to the first router. Of course on this router disabled DHCP server and e.c. To the one of LAN's of the first router connected another router ( this is d-link DI-624) and this second router must release internet to my room.
But I'm confused with settings of my second router. If I disable DHCP server on d-link router, then I lost connection even with router.
IP of HDA is 192,168,0,99
IP of the first router is 192,168,0,1
IP of the second router is 192,168,0,2

ISP settings - DHCP
Range of IP to my home network 192,168,0,100-192,168,0,107 ( I have in my room at least 3 computers and also need Wi-Fi connection in my flat - Wi-Fi I'm going obtain from D-Link) , but another rooms are connected via first router.

If I correctly understand, I have to made from d-link something like switch with Wi-Fi module, is not it ? What settings I have to arrange for d-link ?

hi,

did you solve your issue?

your question is not very clear.

you CAN have the wifi router running - most users do have wifi.

you CAN have two routers - i do - one acting as firewall and the other one acting as simply a WiFi access point (i do not connect anything to the WAN part of that router).

does this help?
