Cannot add disk - dashboard has encountered a problem.

Postby timjohn » Tue Jul 31, 2018 10:02 am

First and foremost, I'm responsible for this problem! I use Greyhole and I had insufficient space on my system during an upload, so everything went pear-shaped. I'm trying to upload another disk via the Disk Wizard but when I get to "Next" I'm informed that the dashboard has encountered a problem. Sorry if this all a bit vague but I will be more than happy to provide more info if required. What I'd like to know is:
a) Do I have to do a fresh install?
b) If I do, will I be able to get my Greyhole UI back?
c) Or is there an easier way out of this? Please say there is!
Many thanks in advance.

You will need to do some manual work.

Recommend you follow the adding a second hard drive guidance.

Once you get the drive mounted, you will need to move some files manually to the new drive. Until you free some space on the root drive, Greyhole and the Dashboard will not work.

You also might consider moving the Greyhole LZ to the new drive.

If that is too much for you to handle, you have two options. Once is start over and the other would be to setup for commercial support.

Thanks for that bigfoot65.
I was in the process of uploading a backup via Macrium free. When the upload was aborted all of the uploaded files were automatically removed. Does this make any difference, or do I still have to follow your advice - kind though it is?
I know your response will probably be yes, but it's worth a go!

If the root drive still reflects 0% available, I would recommend following the steps from my earlier post.
