SOLVED: DLNA Ip address question

Postby Wildwood » Sat Feb 11, 2017 6:49 pm

Ok I got my Server all set up. Handing out DHCP and DNS. I got the DLNA installed and when I click on it it has an IP address labeled Netfront Living Connect. Does anyone know what that is? Does it have to do with the DLNA? I can ping it but have no idea what it is?

This sounds like something local to your network. Do you mean there is a device listed with that name?

Clicking on the link should bring you to a screen that shows how many pics, videos, etc you have available for streaming. It should also list any devices that are connected.

Ok, found it. It was the Tv. The Tv can see the files but will not play them. Is this a permission issue? How do I give the TV permission to stream media? Guest account?

The file types may not be compatible with the TV.

You would need to consult the TV manual. This doesn't sound like an app issue, but more compatibility with DLNA.

Got it, my TV only plays mpeg files. Once I converted it to mpeg, it started playing on the TV. Any suggestions on smart TVs? Which ones support the most formats? Thanks again

No recommendation. Recommend you find what you want and then just check specs.

Marking this as solved.
