CLOSED: Plex vs DLNA

Postby Wildwood » Thu Feb 09, 2017 6:26 am

Hi guys

Just got my Amahi setup last night and I'm trying to decide on my first app. I want to be able to stream movies to all devices in my network. I have a Visio Smart TV and wanted some expert opinions on which app is best for media streaming. I am a little confused to the differences between Flex and Amahi DLNA. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Which one works best with smart TVs? How do I check to see if my TV will see the media server?

Thanks Scott

I personally like the dlna App. It's simple and most devices are compatible with DLNA naturally or with an additional app installed.

I've been using it for years with all my devices to include my TV.

Thanks, I got it set up last night and the only issue is my TV doesn't recognize all formats. So I had to convert some files so they would play on my TV. I like the IOS app and it runs so smooth on my Ipad. Thanks for the response, i really don't want to run both Plex and DLNA. I'll just stick with the DLNA for now.
