Soooo couple issues, and I know it's simply my inexperience with these sorts of things that caused this:
1. I was messing with default shares, and moved some files over, then deleted the share. Now the files are still there but I can't access them. How do I remove the files now that the share is gone?
2. My HDA is not showing up as active on the amahi website. It still says waiting install. I also can't seem to add apps to it, I get the message "There are no applications available at this time. This could be due to a lack of network connectivity" However, I can ping it just fine and it has the correct ip (192.168.0.10)
3. I tried setting up the HDA to be my DHCP server and it killed my network. I disabled DHCP on my router and rebooted everything and nothing picked up correctly. I couldn't access anything, the router, the hda, anything. I'm using a ARRIS SURFboard SB6141 modem/router. I got everything back up by resetting the router to default settings.
4. Part of the reason I was messing with the shares was because they are showing as only having 50GB, when I should have 500 (two
500GB in raid). When I checked the partitions on the hda it says the following:
/dev/md126p1 476 MB 369 MB 78.6 MB (18%) /boot
/dev/md126p3 50 GB 34.6 GB 15.4 GB (31%) /
/dev/md126p5 407 GB 407 GB 32.3 MB (1%) /home
But all of my shares are pointing towards /
and all of my storage is in /home
Is there a workaround to this or was this a mistake on my end when I installed Amahi?
First HDA setup - Deleted share without removing items (and more)
Re: First HDA setup - Deleted share without removing items (and more)
You will have to manually delete the directory via command line. This is a safety measure to ensure you don't accidentally remove a share and lose files. BTW all shares are located in /var/hda/files1. I was messing with default shares, and moved some files over, then deleted the share. Now the files are still there but I can't access them. How do I remove the files now that the share is gone?
This may be related to bug 2046. Try following the guidance there.2. My HDA is not showing up as active on the amahi website. It still says waiting install. This may be related to #2. Once it's corrected, try again.3. I tried setting up the HDA to be my DHCP server and it killed my network. Not sure you followed the install instructions correctly. There is a step that says We STRONGLY advise against use of LVM or setting a /home partition. By doing so, you have tied up the majority of your OS drive to the /home directory. Recommend you reinstall to eliminate that issue.4. Part of the reason I was messing with the shares was because they are showing as only having 50GB, when I should have 500 (two
500GB in raid). When I checked the partitions on the hda it says the following:
Also we do not provide technical support for RAID. So if you use it, sorry but we cannot help out with it.

Re: First HDA setup - Deleted share without removing items (and more)
I'm unfamiliar with pooling, but if the two 500GB drives are pooled, is there protection against data loss? In raid, if a drive fails I can replace it without losing data, is that something that pooling allows for?
Re: First HDA setup - Deleted share without removing items (and more)
Yes pooling provides for data redundancy. It's not a RAID replacement however.
If you have two data drives plus the shares drive and set it for maximum copies, there would be a copy of a file on both data drives. One drive dies there is still a copy on the other drive.
You can find more info in the Amahi Wiki regarding Greyhole and pooling.
