Dynamic DNS

Postby Camperdownfamily » Tue Jun 14, 2016 5:09 am

I've searched the help files and the wiki, but I can't find anything to help me understand the Dynamic DNS shown on the Amahi Control Panel. Can someone explain what it is?

The control panel shows <Nickname>.yourHDA.com where <Nickname> is the Nickname shown on the line above on the Control Panel. I assumed that typing <Nickname>.yourHDA.com into a web browser would give me remote access to my Amahi server in much the same way as Windows Home Server used to have <servername>.homeserver.com as a remote access facility, however, when I type the address into a browser I just get a 'Site not found' error. Just typing in yourHDA.com does the same thing.

I am keen to understand what this does, if anything, and if so how to use it, so if someone could explain or point in the direction of the help files that describe it, I would appreciate it.

Thanks

Recommend you check out hosting a web site in the wiki.

Also the HDA Admin How To might be beneficial as well.
