I decided I'd reinstall fedora 21 since the original install is only allowing me to use 50 GB of a 500 GB hard drive. When I attempted to boot from the cd drive with the minimal ISO file, and now it does not recognize the cd drive when I set the pc to boot from the cd drive. Any suggestions so that I can redo the fedora install? Thanks very much...

Seems like a hardware or media issue. Check that the CD is not corrupt.

Is your hardware old? Maybe the drive is worn out.

Yuu could also try USB boot/install.

Thanks - it was bad media. I've done the reinstall and it still shows only 49 GB available? There is a /home directory that is 242 GB according to Disk Wizard and it shows that all the space is available. I'm wondering why it does not let me use that space. Any assistance is certainly appreciated. Thanks!

You need to reinstall and follow the guidance that states do not create a home partition.

Thanks - I found that section in the instructions now. I also realized that I had to change the size of root after reinstalling. I appreciate all of your assistance.
