Password issue: sync between Amahi dashboard, samba, and android app??

Hello,

Background:
- initially setup the Amahi admin user with password1
- via the Amahi dashboard Users tab, changed that user's password to password2
- was unable to access Samba shares, so tried the instructions on the Reset Amahi Password wiki page -- no change
Note: I have avoided using the OS passwd command.

Current state:
- can login to the dashboard with password2 but must use password1 to access samba shares as that admin user
- can't login to the Amahi Android app at all any more, with any user (I suspect this is not related to the admin user password change... but the problem seemed to coincide...)

Possibly relevant info (??):
- I have configured Amahi/apache to redirect all http requests to https


It seems like the dashboard password change does not propagate to samba. Any suggestion how to fix that? Was there another approach I should have taken for changing the password?
Any suggestions how to troubleshoot the problem with the Android app? I already tried uninstalling and re-installing it.

This may be related to bug 1925

Also run this command and see if it reports correctly the first admin user:

cd /var/hda/platform/html/script ./first-admin

Also have you tried restarting Samba?

This could be related to your issues. This is something we are considering for Amahi 9, but don't recommend the current manual process documented in the wiki. It could break things. Recommend you reverse this procedure and see if things return to normal.

Interesting, yes. Is there a workaround? Change password again? Ensure password... conforms to a certain length?

Done. And it did report correctly.
And restarted Samba manually, as you suggested (even though I had already rebooted the server), but no change.

Yes, understood. I had read the warning, but... was trying to be optimistic...?
So, I have removed the redirect.

Dashboard/samba passwords still out of sync (may be bug 1925).
Still unable to login to Android app (may also be related to bug 1925??).

Recommend you update bug 1925 with your issue so the developer can look into it.

How do I troubleshoot this?

Sorry, should have mentioned use the same credentials as amahi.org.
