I'm replacing my WD MyBook home NAS, its just not fast enough to accommodate streaming music/HD movies at home AND backing up computers. So I have a few questions regarding the install/RAID requirements with Amahi.
Is it possible to install Amahi on a small SSD and additionally run 2 WD Red drives in RAID 1 that contains all Music/Movies/Backups?
Also, in your experience, would/should an 2.4 ghz AMD Athlon II, with 8gb RAM be faster or have an advantage over the Western Digital MyBook Live DUO? I'm not sure the specs on it, but I guarantee it doesnt run 8gb of RAM.
Thanks for any input here, I'm excited to get this started, but I want to do it right!
New Setup?
Re: New Setup?
Yes it's possible, but there is very little performance gain using a SSD drive in a server such as this. A regular hard drive will work just as well.Is it possible to install Amahi on a small SSD and additionally run 2 WD Red drives in RAID 1 that contains all Music/Movies/Backups?
Either can handle the average server load, but I would probably go for the AMD with 8GB ram. Should be more than enough to do most tasks with little stress. Also, in your experience, would/should an 2.4 ghz AMD Athlon II, with 8gb RAM be faster or have an advantage over the Western Digital MyBook Live DUO?
