SOLVED: How to uninstall Amahi-netboot

Postby TheParkerFamily » Tue Jan 05, 2016 10:46 am

In my current build (Fed21/Amahi8) I accidentally installed 'Amahi Netboot' and I can't for the life of me figure out how to uninstall via shell or via the usual method via HD web panel.

The app shows as installed - under 'servers' it shows a failed server related to it as well... but trying to use yum to see installed packages and groups to locate and remove it has been fruitless.

Any insight or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

You need to go to Apps tab, Installed section and uninstall it from there.

Once complete, you can also run the following command line:

Code: Select all

yum erase amahi-netboot

Applications Manager

I may have been unclear. In the Apps section, the app is listed, but there is no 'Uninstall' button, as there is on the other apps.

Also - when I attempt to run the yum command I receive the following:

[root@hda lib]# yum erase amahi-netboot
Loaded plugins: fastestmirror, langpacks
No Match for argument: amahi-netboot
No Packages marked for removal

Also - I have tried reinstalling it just to see if the install maybe didn't complete successfully by running the yum command "yum -y install amahi-netboot" and I get a similar response - the system cannot find anything to install

Typically this application is installed as a dependency of other apps which may be why you don't see the uninstall option. What other applications do you have installed?

Also please provide the URL for the following:

Code: Select all

fpaste --sysinfo
Also check /var/log/amahi-app-installer.log file for errors.

I'm pretty sure it showed in the applications list and I clicked on it by mistake and installed that way.

I do not have any other apps installed which a netboot option would make sense for, although I did try and remove several which did not appear to work well.

What I have:
phpMan
Monit Service Manager
Greyhole LogMon
GreyholeUI
Plex Media Server
GParted
Amahi Netboot --
Disk Stats
eZ Server Monitor
Shell in a box
Disk Wizard
HDA Troublshooting Tools
phpMyAdmin
phpMyBackupPro

GParted
This application installed Amahi-Netboot. The app is only usable by clients that network boot. If you uninstall GParted, then refresh the installed apps list, you will have the option to uninstall Amahi-Netboot.

BTW, GParted is not a LIVE application for Amahi 8 either. Recommend you not install ALPHA or BETA applications as they typically do not work well or could cause issues.

Perfect! That was it , removed GParted, then uninstall for Amahi-netboot was shown. Both successfully removed now.

I'm trying to build a long term replacement for my WHS 2011 server - matching the functionality I have with it has been a bit of a challenge. My hope is Amahi will do it, only concern is that so many of the apps really don't seem to have made it past the alpha/beta stages - or seem to be abandoned. So far, aside from the learning curve, it's going fairly well.

Thank you for the help!

We have 85 apps that are LIVE in Amahi 8 and over 180 in BETA that are slowly being moved LIVE. Not sure what you are looking for in Amahi, but we should have most things covered moving from WHS. Actually I believe we have even more capabilities :)

Happy to assist and hope you find what you are looking for in a home server in Amahi.

BTW, recommend you take a look at the Amahi app store to verify status of applications before you install. Most that you see on your HDA should be LIVE, but sometimes users have access to BETA apps. Those are typically preceded with an asterisk (*).

Bigfoot - You are correct, lots more easy to implement apps and capabilities... and a great framework to install and use them without the windows overhead. All I really need is a basic redundancy / file sharing / media hub / backup solution for the home. I personally don't care that much about VPN or remote access, although it's a great value add.

Amahi certainly does all of this and more - it'll just take a while to get up to speed.

It does take time to get it all sorted out.

Going to close this one as solved.
