I tried, but I got an operation not permitted error. Do I need to be in the root directory? If so, please tell me how to get there.

You need to execute as root user. Try preceding commands with

Code: Select all

sudo
or you can do this before executing any commands:

Code: Select all

sudo su -

OK. Thanks! I issued the commands for the ssh fix and restarted ssh. Seemed to work. Now what?

Sorry. We started this conversation because CrashPlan failed to install. Can we do something to address this?

Request you submit a bug report as this is an ALPHA application and not LIVE for Amahi 8. Once you log into the site, select Project, Apps, then New Issue.

We will take a look as our workload permits. It may be several days before we have a chance to look at it.

As previously mentioned, recommend you check the Amahi App Store prior to purchasing any application. If it's not LIVE, it's likely not working. I don't recommend installing applications otherwise it could break your HDA.

1. I went to the Home Server Tracker page to report the Crash Plan bug, but it's not clear to me how to do this.

2. I issued the apaste installer log command as recommended in the error message when Crash Plan failed to install, but got an error message about an option being used in invalid context (I'm using my TV as a monitor, and it truncates text on the left which I haven't figured out how to fix, so it says some other stuff I can't read).

3. I haven't figured out how to use ssh from another computer on the network, so I still have to issue commands directly at the terminal.

4. Is there some sort of diagnostic to run to make sure Amahi (and ssh) is installed/configured correctly? I did an fpaste --sysinfo, and the URL is //paste.fedoraproject.org/292748/80262831

apaste is an Ubuntu command for fpaste which is Fedora. Try substituting that instead.

If you followed the guidance provided in the wiki and Amahi Bug #1871, it should be working.

I didn't see any issues with the results. Once you have submitted the bug report, we will rack and stack to determine when we can take a look at the CrashPlan application.

I am also waiting for crashplan to become available for amahi 8 before even considering a migration from amahi 7 to 8.
Hopefully there will be some progress soon. I would like to help but I am not able to solve installation problems myself. I could maybe contribute by updating the wiki?

CrashPlan appears to be working, however without someone to test we cannot make much progress. The user who submitted the bug report has not responded back about the current status.

This is one of those applications that we must have active users as our automated testing cannot determine if it works properly.
