Adding a new USB Harddrive

Postby Seeker » Sat Mar 28, 2015 6:33 pm

I would like to add a new USB hard drive to my HDA. I have purchased and installed the GreyHole UI and would like this USB drive to be part of the storage pool. How do I go about doing this? The only guide that I can find is https://wiki.amahi.org/index.php/Adding ... o_your_HDA and it states that it is only for advanced users. Clearly I'm a beginner - is there a user-friendly process?

Thanks,

Hello,

No that is the only way to add a drive to the HDA. It's been simplified and should be fairly easy to follow. If you get stuck, you can ask for help.

Once you have the drive properly mounted, Greyhole UI will see it.

I think that the instructions might have a missing step. I have followed them and am trying to add a drive smaller than 2TB.

The wiki has the following steps:
Up to 2TB, at the (parted) prompt, enter:

mklabel (answer yes when prompted)
mkpart primary 0% 100%
quit
When I enter the "mklabel" command it asks me for a "new disk label type?" and gives me an invalid token when I enter anything in that line.

Thank you for your continued assistance.

That is odd as we have never had a problem with the guidance before.

Try entering mklabel msdos and then answer Yes when prompted.

I have updated the guidance in the wiki as well.
