OK...install amahi without a problem. Changed the dhcp in router. Moved from opendns to opennic. Everything working great! Last night internet went out. Had time warner out. Received signal from modem. We can see the wireless network but no internet signal. I can't even hard wire into the wireless modem as it says no signal. I can't get into the wireless router to change settings. I hit the reset button in the back. I don't know enough about this and how it works! My seven year old is mad without netflicks! for the love of god please help me!

Sincerely,

Jay

OK...tragedy narrowly averted as I was able to get into wireless router via hardwire. Regardless..it does not solve the problem of why it turned off. The issue has to deal with the dhcp settings in my initial install. After i switched it back on, access was again granted. Something switched something off and chaos insured. Real tech jargon there I know, right!? this is why i dwell in the newbie section forever! Anyone know what I may have missed?

Stay away from OpenNIC for DNS. It has had problems in the past. I recommend OpenDNS as it's been the most reliable.

This issue should have nothing to do with the HDA.

OpenDNS would not allow me to go to "normal" websites like ESPN. It also stopped me from connecting with my email at work. I had an issue with trying to add my hda IP as they said it was taken. I was turned back at every opportunity. Again, was I doing something wrong?

OpenINGs does not block sites. There is something else in your network causing problems. As for the IP being taken is odd. What a t did you do as far as adding the IP address?

With the HDA there is no setup needed with OpenDNS. You enable it and go. Maybe you can explain what steps you took that caused the issues.
