Will I lose desktop capabilities when installing Amahi?

I am currently running Ubuntu12.04 desktop on a machine with Plex, trying to serve up some movies and music to my Roku and Android phone. I need to review the Plex Ubuntu permissions/settings because it seems to not be working often. I do use that same machine to do some basic internet browsing, work in Libreoffice. Nothing I would consider too intensive.

My question is if I install the latest Amahi, how much desktop capability do I lose? Can I still browse the internet on this machine? Install Libreoffice? It would be a nice to have. I was hoping I could demo the Amahi environment with a LiveCD or something but I don't know if that's possible?

There is none as it's a headless by default. You could install the Amahi VNC application. Another option is to install Amahi via USB which would provide a desktop interface.

No this is not possible. It must be installed.
