I've been running Amahi 7 for a while with no problems. I use Amahi for DNS and DCHP server. I want to go into my dashbaord to change some settings but cannot - no ID/password combos work. I can signin thru Putty using any of my user passwords as well as the first admin ID password. However, none of these work when signing into the Amahi dashboard.
I saw instructions to reset teh admin password using teh script reset-user-password but that scripts deosn't seem to exist in teh specified directory. I have first-admin scripts in /var/hda/platform/html/script which runs OK but no reset-user-password. In any case since I can get in thru Putty I'm not sure that would help.
Any ideas?
SOLVED: Password Problems
Re: Password Problems
First of all, there is no reset user password script in Amahi 7. It's on the list to be added, but no idea when or if it will be incorporated.
Were you able to log into the dashboard in the past? If so, did you change anything or do a manual password change via command line? That will break Amahi if so.
Have you tried other browsers? Cleared the browser cache and history? Do you have Webmin installed as an app?

Re: Password Problems
That would explain the lack of reset-user-password script!
Yes, I have been able to access the dashboard previously. I can logon thru SSH via Putty. I can see the HDA and access it my it over my network. I just can't logon to the dashboard nor via the Android mobile app. I used to be able to do both
Don't recall if I have have Webmin installed. If I had would that help or might it be part of the problem?
Basically everything was working fine previously and now not so much, with no changes made I know of. Tried rebooting the whole of my network/all devices with no change

Re: Password Problems
Tried different browsers (Firefox, Chrome and although it was hard to do, Explorer). Deleted history, cache etc - no change
Re: Password Problems
Something had to occur in order for this problem to exist. Do you remember the last thing you did before this happened?
There may be another way to work this, but will require more research. Basically what you need is to be able to reset the user password for Linux and Samba. If you give me a little time, I will see what I can find out.

Re: Password Problems
Still haven't managed to fix this. One thing that is strange. It seems with some user ID's I can logon to the dashboard and thru Putty. However, the main ID I use (and I think one of the admin accounts) I can logon thru Putty but not to the dashboard with the same ID/password. Is that possible ie are the id's passwords the same for the dashboard and thru or did I just set them up wrong.
In any case, any ideas how to reset/get in to change settings when the admin password is not known?

Re: Password Problems
What is the password length for those with issues? There may be a way to fix them. Is any other user an administrator for Amahi?

Re: Password Problems
The plot thickens. The passwords are relatively long ie 14 charecters/digits. I've discovered if I log on thru Putty I can long on with any password which matches the first 8 (or more) charecters - so its seems the password length limit is 8 thru Putty?
In any case I can't access the dashboard with the ID/password for what I think is an admin account thru the dashboard logon. Does teh dashbaord have password length limitations/problems also?

Re: Password Problems
Not that I am aware. This make take some research on the internet to determine if there is a solution.

Re: Password Problems
I am now able to login as root thru Putty. Is there a way to reset the dashboard password from there.? I've been researching Fedora commands but I'm not a Linux guru.
