Hello everyone.
Here is a story. One of my friends has a dental office and he wants to setup a local server in order to keep all patients information confidential and incrypted. Also it needs to have at least 3 hard drive to make triple copies "to serve as mirrow".
Things I've tested so far in my home enviroment.
I have installed Amahi 6.0 on my ubuntu 12.04 desktop LTS due to me being ubuntu user already. I have also installed greyhole disk util, then I added second hard drive and mounted to hda with no problems. So far all my local computers such as windows 7, ubuntu 14.04 LTS, android phone and another windows 7 laptop can see hda in my network. I can copy, delete, create, rename files no problem pretty much I've installed amahi successfully
as far as I understand.
Here is my question.
Can I install crashPlan on windows 7 to back up files to HDA also to incrypted, then greyhole will make triple copies to a 3 different hard drives?

Thanks for the great support and advises.

It might not work well. Please see Installing Crashplan note regarding the use of Greyhole.

Thanks for the quick reply.
Maybe anybody knows a backup software for windows 7, that can back up to hda and incrypted. And greyhole do the rest.

I use FreeFileSync for Windows. Not sure if it can do encrypted though and just works on directories/files.

You might consider Clonezilla. It uses a Live CD. We have an Clonezilla Amahi app that places it on the HDA and you netboot your PC to the HDA to back up. It is not LIVE however and in testing.

The Live CD works well, but again not sure if there is encryption. I personally don't feel encryption is necessary unless you are putting financial or sensitive data in the cloud.

Thanks for the reply.
Yes, encryption is required due to HIPA.

I've also did some research and find out that some people use raid software for hard drive as redundant arrays.
You think it worth a shot?

Ah, that makes sense. HIPA is such a pain.

RAID might work. Just have to be careful as if it breaks you could lose everything. Recommend you do your homework. There is some info in the wiki, including a software RAID application that can be manually installed.

Software RAID

RAID 5

FlexRAID

Thanks for the support.

One more question that doesn't concern CrashPlan. Since amahi comes fully loaded with LAMP stack. Where I can put my php development files in HDA so I can have access to them localy through any computers? For example in my ubuntu it is /var/www/html and from the browser via localhost i have access to them.

Thanks again for the support.
