So I started transferring my pictures from my win pc to amahi /var/hda/share folders. It was around 72gb of files. When I checked status this morning it didn't complete. My hda was not showing up in Windows network, and my dashboard was not available. The server was still running though cause I could address my dlna from my network tv. Any thoughts on why file could not tamer? I have 330gb free on my root folder /.

You will need to check the log files in /var/log directory on the HDA. Maybe something in the samba or system logs.

I finally had a chance to try and see what went wrong my on server with the file transfer. But it would not respond to the keyboard attached to it. Nor could I get SSH into it from a pc on my network so I had to reboot the server. I then checked out the samba logs and the files were empty. Any other thoughts on what I should check? I would just like to be able to backup my files to my server. Oh I noticed based on what windows calculated it was trasnfering from my windows 7 machine to my server was at around 2.2 mb.

Could be your network connection causing issues. May try transferring a few files to see how it goes. Might have to do smaller chunks to get it all done.

Recommend checking the Shares Troubleshooting as well.

Ok so I have been able to move my files over to my HDA with no issues now. Not sure what happened but using FreeFileSync has paid off. Over 70gb of data transferred without a hitch. Thanks for the help. We can mark this one as resolved.

That's my favorite Windows utility :) I use it on all my machines without issue.
