RESOLVED: Subsonic Update

Postby burn913 » Mon Sep 29, 2014 5:29 am

I saw yesterday that the Subsonic app for Amahi has been updated. I am a huge fan of Subsonic and am excited to see the changes. I'm a pretty big newbie with Amahi in general and have what I think is a simple question: How do I update this app? I thought that it might update automatically overnight, but that didn't seem to happen and I can't find any posts on this forum about it.

Thanks for the help!

For most apps, you have to uninstall and then reinstall the app to get the latest updates.

In the case of subsonic, you might be able to do a manual RPM update by downloading it from the vendor web site and installing.

To keep it simple and ensure it works, I recommend the uninstall/reinstall option.

This update was only for Amahi 7 (Fedora 19), so if you have a different Amahi version/OS, you will have to do a manual update.

Will uninstalling and reinstalling change all my settings?

Thanks!

It's possible. Recommend you back them up or make notes of the settings.

Hmm ok, do you have any advice on how to back up the settings? I think they're in /var/Subsonic/db/

Their forum hasn't been very helpful. I'll just make note of the settings and reinstall. Thanks for your help.

So I had to uninstall and reinstall. Then that didn't work, so I uninstalled and reinstalled again, which seems to have done the trick. My settings carried over just fine. However, I am having trouble with my podcasts downloading to my server. I get the error message: /var/Podcast/Basic Brewing Radio/bbr09-25-14expbook.mp3 (Permission denied)

Any ideas?

Thanks

Check the permissions of the file. Did this work before?
