Access to apps via IP - ever happening?

Greetings to all Amahi users and admins!

So, after much research I decided to take a jab at Amahi with an old PC I wasn't using anymore.
Completely n00b with Linux and servers overall, after some research and some troubleshooting, it's finally up and running headless.

Now, after changing ISPs and reinstalling the whole thing for the last time, I think I finally hit my final and worst wall - the DNS and DHCP server thing.

There are a couple of reasons I can't disable DNS and DHCP on my router:

1- My new ISP (fiber) provided me with a router (Huawei HG8245) which uses ONT for the configuration. If I understood everything correctly, they locked up from their side most of the configurations (including the option to turn on and off DHCP and DNS). Still have some port routing and port triggering options - dunno if that helps in any way. Don't have much hope for making they change things on their side - brazilian support is usually bad, not very informed, and they'd probably charge me more for doing it;

2- Even though the PC I'm using as a server is fairly old (Core 2 Quad), it's still plenty power heavy (it's an old video editing station after all), so I wasn't planning to leave it on 24/7... that would be kind of a huge impact on power bills, and I'm not using it all the time anyways.

I messed up a bit with apps, and even bought some (my previous ISP which was cable provided a router which I could work up the settings and then some), but now I'm in this predicament.

So, the question comes to: can I ever hope to have a way of getting access to apps, even if it's using cryptic IP addresses and ports? I understand several of them uses regular :80 ports, so it's kind of a hard thing to distinguish and all.

Or: am I overlooking something?

I don't anticipate the way Amahi handles the DNS aliases for apps to change.

You could confgure your client machines to continue use the router DHCP via static IP address. I presume you can set static IP addresses via the MAC address, correct?

Then set the DNS server on the client to point to the HDA. By doing so you still meet the requirements of the ISP for DHCP and get your DNS from the HDA which in turn will be getting it's DHCP and DNS originally from the ISP.

Does that make sense?

Does this mean U turn Off the HDA DHCP service? Only the router DHCP is active?

Yes. Running multiple DHCP servers will cause a conflict.
