I have set up DLNA on my server, and it is functioning. I use BubbleUPnP, which works great on my Android when within my network, but it doesn't seem to recognize the DLNA when connected through VPN.
Thanks

Re: Open VPN on Android
I think that may be the android app I was using too. Not sure what could be the issue as I have never tried my DLNA server outside my network.

Re: Open VPN on Android
I'm having quite a bit of trouble with this and decided to take a step back. In functionality, all that I really want to do is be able to stream the music that is on my Amahi home server to any desktop and my Android phone. Since I can't seem to get my VPN functioning effectively, do you think that Subsonic (or another app) would be an easier option?
Thanks for all of your help so far.

Re: Open VPN on Android
Possibly. I guess the more burning question here is why is it not working with VPN.
Did you try access any other apps or files using VPN? That would be my first check to ensure VPN is functioning correctly.

Re: Open VPN on Android
Ok, I won't abandon the VPN option yet. The OpenVPN app on my Android says I'm connected to the VPN. I have tried accessing my share folders using a file browser app on my Android, but it says there are none. When I'm in my network, the shared folders show up in the file browser app.

Re: Open VPN on Android
When you configure the OpenVPN app, ensure you select User/PW + Certificates. Then add the 3 files from the wiki.
My VPN seems to work just fine, tested it from my phone with no issues.

Re: Open VPN on Android
Here are my settings for the OpenVPN app on my Android. The question mark ones I am most unsure about:
In the basic tab:
Profile name: burn913
server address: [myhdanickname].yourhda.com
server port: 1194 UDP
LZO compression checked
User/PW + Certificate: certificates files selected and username and pw entered
In the IP and DNS tab:
Pull settings: On
No local binding unchecked
Override DNS settings by server: checked [??]
searchDomain: burn913.net [??]
DNS server: 76.xxx.xxx.xxx [my hda ip from the control panel]
Backup DNS server: 8.8.4.4
I have played with these settings quite a bit with no luck. I haven't altered any of the other settings in the app. Any more ideas? If not, I'll probably jump ship on VPN and go for Subsonic.

Re: Open VPN on Android
I only made changes in the Basic Settings tab. I left the boxes checked or unchecked with their defaults. The only real change I made to the default settings were:
In my opinion, the less you change the better. If there is a need for it, makes sense to change. But most default settings work.
Leaving all else alone, I have had no issues. Maybe that is the problem. Try creating a profile and only changing those items.Profile name
server address
User/PW + Certificate

Re: Open VPN on Android
In the end, I couldn't get the VPN to work properly. I instead abandoned that idea and installed Subsonic. It was pretty easy to set up and has really great functionality.
Thanks for the help!

No problem. Sorry to hear things did not work out. Would be interested to know why.
