I thought I would configure the Fedora firewall, after enabling it I lost the internet
on a client PC, so I disabled the firewall. Internet is back but I can't access HDA
from the remote PC. Before I make this worse can someone bail me out or do I
have to reinstall Amahi?
Can not access HDA
Re: Can not access HDA
You should not have to reinstall, and by Fedora firewall, do you mean SELinux or what exactly do you mean?

Re: Can not access HDA
The access to the HDA through IE is OK. If I try to use the Run command with
user name and pw or windows explorer I get an access denied message. I know
the user name and pw are good. The firewall (System > Administration > Firewall)
is the only settings that my have changed.
Thanks

Re: Can not access HDA
Did you just install amahi? or has it been installed for a good amount of time?
Also has everything worked before the firewall enabling?

there is a problem with the first user in a system. the password needs to be changed for the first user, *in the Amahi users tab*.
we are talking about the one user created by the fedora installer.
with windows explorer, can you go to your network neighborhood and access your hda?
can you try accessing \\hda from the file browser (not the web browser) ?

Re: Can not access HDA
I am the one and only user. I have changed the password several times. At this
point I can see the shares in My Network Places, but I get access denied for
every share. The shares are set to everyone and writeable in the shares tab.
I have had this installation for 23 days. I have never been able to access the
shares from windows file explore. I am using XP Home. This is driving me nuts
Thanks

Re: Can not access HDA - Update
After another password change plus restarts for client and server, XP client can
now access the shares with file manager. I can copy and paste documents/pictures into
the shares and view them, but I dont see the html/log folders in my webapp TestPage
share that I created. Any thoughts?
Thanks

Re: Can not access HDA
Did you create the share and then create the web-app to reflect it? If so it will not show them, just make them. I made a web-app the other day without creating a share and all was well, html and logs were there, not sure if it shows in the shares as I have not checked.
Try creating another web-app but do not create a share for it. Also shares point to /var/hda/files/sharename as web-apps point to /var/hda/web-apps/appname and then have the html/ and logs/ inside there.

Re: Can not access HDA
I was opening the shares TestPage not webapp TestPage. When I try to view the webapp TestPage folder I get access denied. The permissions on the var/hda/web-apps/testpage
path have been changed. Any ideas?
Thanks

Re: Can not access HDA
the permisions for the webapps are probably apache and i think group apache or group users (can you confirm this?), which regular users may not be able to write.
you should made them writable by hand:
what we can do here is do this automatically for new webapps. can you file a bug report for these in http://bugs.amahi.org/projects/amahi/issues/new ?
thanks
you should made them writable by hand:
Code: Select all
cd /var/hda/web-apps/testpage/
chmod o+w -R html/
thanks
