The allocation of hard drive space to subdirectories

Beginners Q.
As I save files to my shares, how can I determine which 'partition' (not sure if that's the correct term) files are saved to ? I've attached a portion of my Linfo app report below. For example, I looked at the subdir specified in my minidlna.conf file to see if that shed any light on where the files physically lives, but that didn't help.
I've got 2 hard drives: one totals about 300 Gb capacity, and is just the hardware that is part of the laptop that I'm using as my server (runs Amahi 7.1). The second drive is usb with 160 Gb capacity, installed very recently, and is accessible via a new Share, subdirectory of which is viewable vis DLNA.
From poking around, my guess is that sda6 is a 'partition' of my main (i.e., non-usb) HD which houses server system related information, and that the much larger sda2 partition, is where the majority of the files I've been saving (PDFs, video, audio) are being saved (the balance of such files are in the USB drive, but that's much more recent).
My question, is how can I verify that this is what's happening. I'm sure if I knew something more about linux or unix I could determine all this. Would appreciate any pointers on this, including Amahi wiki or forum references where this is discussed.
Thanks
