System is an Intel Celeraon 440 at 2 gigs. Has 1 gig of Ram.

Installed Ubuntu 12.04.03. Worked fine. Set up my router for DHCP reservation for the linux box, and port forwarding, and then setup Remote Display, and was able to VNC into the Linux box.

Installed Amahi (I blieve version 6). Everything seemed to install properly. Rebooted, and tried to access the HDA and the control panel, with no luck. Browser returned a DNS error from my ISP (Verizon)

Decided to disable the routers DHCP, and rebooted all clients, incluing the HDA box.

Upon reboot, there was no internet connectivity among any of the boxes. Could not VNC into the HDA whether locally or externally.

Hard reset the router, resetup DHCP and port forwarding, rebooted all clients, and viola, back to connectivity.

Ran the network trouble shooter. It expected to find

Does it result in something like this (verify the parts in red):

Server: 192.168.1.60
Address: 192.168.1.60#53

Name: hda.amahi.net
Address: 192.168.1.60

Ran nslookup hda, and instead got

Server: 192.168.1.1
Address: 192.168.1.1#53

Non-authoritative answer:
Name: hda
Address: 199.101.28.20

I have ABSOLUTELY no idea where 199.101.28.20 came from.

Ran the commands the troubleshooter stated, and pasted the results into http://pastebin.ubuntu.com/6120564/

Are you using the HDA for DHCP and DNS server? If so, ensure you have turned off your router DHCP server. Cannot have both running or there will be conflicts.

Also is the IP address you referred to the one assigned by your ISP? If so, then you may need to power down your network. Start back up with modem, router, HDA and then once all appears well, clients.

I have seen this happen in the past to users and this was the solution. If it does not work, then we can explore other options.

I currently am using my routers DHCP. I mentioned earlier that when I disabled the router DHCP, and rebooted everything, nothing had internet connectivity, including the HDA/Linux Box.

As for DNS, I don't really know. How can I check?

No, that is not my ISP assigned IP address.

With the router issuing IPs, everything has internet connectivity, but the HDA is not accessible and I can't reach the control panel. If I try and disable router DHCP, nothing I lose internet connectivity.

Whatelse can I try?

Do you have a firewall enabled? That sometimes causes issues. I would encourage you to use the HDA for DHCP. The DNS server is running by default.

Maybe your install did not complete correctly. I presume your profile on amahi.org matches your current network scheme for the HDA. If not, that will cause issues as well.

Forgot to ask, but is this Amahi 7?
