Hello all,
I am very new to all this so bear with me if I missed something simple.
To start off with I am making a home server with Ubuntu and Amahi following instructions mainly from http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/how-to-cre ... ntu-amahi/ and a combination of other sites including the Amahi instructions.
I was able to successfully instal Amahi, and access the control panel where you can manage home server settings through the Amahi dashboard link that appears on your desktop after the instal. However now every time I use the link I am directed to website-unavailible.com, which from what I have gathered is general connection error response.
My computer is connected to a net gear n900 router via ethernet. Under the routers settings I have un-clicked "use router as DHCP server", and selected "use static ip address"
On the computer that Amahi is installed on under network tools I have ethernet interface (ethos) selected but cannot figure out how to set it as the default. Whenever I open network tools loopback interface (lo) is selected, even after selecting eth0.
In addition my Mac (one of the computers I want to have connected to this network) does show my hda in my shared folder and I am able to add files to it as I set it the one time I could access the dashboard.
This is my first networking project and cannot seem to find the answer to this problem anywhere. I feel like someone an ip address is still not static but have not been able to solve it myself.
Dashboard Issue
Re: Dashboard Issue
A few questions:
a. Did you follow the Amahi guidance at https://docs.amahi.org for the initial OS and Amahi install setup?
b. Are you sure when you deselect DHCP that you need to select static IP. Seems like it would be just DHCP unselected.
c. Did you modify any config files since installing Amahi? That often is a recipe for disaster unless you are an advanced linux user.
Once we have more details, we will be able to assist. You might also consider running the troubleshooters in the wiki:
