Hello,

I've been periodically trying to set up an amahi server I made out of an old computer over the last few months but keep running into issues and can't seem to resolve them. I am mostly trying to use it for DLNA media streaming to blu-ray player and storing eccess GoPro movies.

I've spent countless hours searching over the internet to try and find an answer that would work but everything I've found and tried was a complete fail.. I would like to point out that I'm new to Linux though..

Problems:

1. Finally got everything working then all of a sudden, after a restart, the dashboard just won't open. No idea why. Restarted service Apache2 and tried looking through the httpd.conf files but can't fix it

2. The system won't use gigabit. This computer (I'm writing this from it) has a gigabit card, i'm positive. The ethtool even says that its advertised at 1000mbs/baseT but I cannot force it into that speed, it sticks at 100. I've tried turning off the auto and forcing the speed.

Anyone that could help me out would be much appreciated!

Lets try one thing at a time. Can you check the logs in /var/log directory for errors. That may explain why the dashboard is not working.

What OS did you install and did you follow the guidance at http://docs.amahi.org? It is important that you do or you are likely to have problems such as these.

Its Ubuntu 12.04 LTS with amahi on top. I'm running the desktop version, not headless. I did indeed follow those instructions and It did previously work, It just stopped working.

What am I looking for specifically?

There are a couple of error files in the apache2 folder that all end with this

I don't see any other files titled error

I also just ran into another problem where, out of the blue, it stopped letting me file share

I can still log onto the shares with my macbook but when i try to copy something over it aks for my password again (macbook password) then says I dont have permission to do it

minidlna still running well however

The errors for apache are ok, they are warnings and harmless. Suggest you try the network troubleshooter and see if it sheds any light.

Ok so I was able to fix the dashboard by doing the following in terminal:


sudo apt-get curl

sudo service apache2 restart




I don't know how it got erased in the first place but oh well it works now


Now I'm still having the issue of not getting gigabit and still not being able to copy files to one of my folders (it asks for my local computers password then tells me I don't have permission)

That could be a driver issue. Have you installed all the OS updates? If not, you might consider doing so.
