Help With Samba Mount

Postby jtcweb » Tue Sep 18, 2012 7:23 am

I'm running Amahi on Ubuntu server, recent install. I have been running WHS for years, but am unhappy with the last version MS released and did not upgrade. Now that they have dropped support for it I want to begin the migration to a Linux based system, thus Amahi.

However the WHS is running well as just bulk storage (7TB) so I want to leave it as is while I learn Amahi. I want to move some of the stuff I've been running on my desktop (SickBeard & Sabnzbd) to the Amahi server, but I need to have access to the storage on the WHS. I've been trying to do a samba mount of the share on the WHS and got to the point where I can read the directories, but cannot write to them. I cannot find anything in the Amahi system that allows me to setup a mount on another system, am I missing it or it is somethign that has to be don at the OS (Ubuntu) level?

I've found some guides online on how to do this with Ubuntu desktop, but not really anything at the command line level for Ubuntu server.

Keep in mind this has nothing to do with Amahi, but the Samba part of the server. So any guidance you find for mounting network drives on Ubuntu using Samba should work.

I have not tried to do this myself, but I am sure there is something out there. If I come across anything, I will post it here.
