VNC and Automount USB

I run my Amahi (Fedora 14 [not 16]) headless, so I use VNC to connect to it (Jdownloader, JBidwatcher).

When I plug a USB drive in, I'm told I'm not Authorised to automount it. I can confirm that I can mount the drive as root from the terminal, but this is a pain.

I've googled it, and found numerous workarounds to get this working, but is there a clear solution available?
Can I just add my user to mount permissions? If so, how!?

We are not supporting Fedora 16 fro Amahi, so that would be the first thing you would want to change. Fedora 14 and Ubuntu 12.04 are the 2 OS we support.

There might be some guidance in the wiki regarding USB drive mounting. Not sure, but should be easy to find using search.

My Bad, but must be Fedora 14. But since Ubuntu is the preferred stable platform now I may attempt to move from Fedora to Ubuntu and see if that resolves the problem. Best get a test rig going, fill some greyhole shares and then install ubuntu.

You can also use the hda-diskmount script and add the info it provides to the /etc/fstab to mount it permanently if that is your desire.
