Can't use hard drive space?

First off, I know enough Linux to be dangerous, but not enough to be useful.

I installed Amahi using the expressCD but then also added the GNOME desktop (for ease of adding hard drives, so I thought).

I've set it up so that everything runs off of an 8GB usb drive, and then added two 2TB drives afterward. (Both are formatted ext4 and mounted.) The drives show up in the Amahi dashboard, and show 100% available. I've selected those two drives to use in the pool, but did NOT select the root partition, yet when I go to transfer files from a Windows PC, it only adds those files to the root partition of the usb drive. What step have I missed?

This may help .. the files land first in a landing zone, then they are transferred to the pool. unfortunately, some times they are not transferred right away. so the landing zone gets full before the files are moved out to the pool.

Not an experts, but I think you can force the move by running a Greyhole fsck.

Never even saw that before, and I thought I had read all I needed in order to get started. I guess I'll move over one more drive and see about putting the landing zone on it. The space left on the usb drive isn't big enough (1.2GB) for most of my video files, and that's primarily what I want this server to hold. Thanks for that. Looks like I've got a little more work ahead of me.

This is my understanding. Sorry that it's a limitation of the way Greyhole works. (I think that is what's going on)

Added a 200GB drive, and set it up as a dedicated LZ for the videos that I'm transferring to the Amahi box, and did a test of a file larger than 1.2GB (the amount I was initially limited to), and it has taken that file without any problem.

It would seem that the fix was exactly as you described. Odd how I never even came across this in any of the reading I did to try to prepare myself for a migration to Amahi.
