Is a new hda required to test install amahi on vm?

Postby rocketscove » Tue Jul 24, 2012 10:38 am

I have amahi running on an old Samsung Netbook (n150) using Ubuntu 12.04. I would like to test amahi on various linux distros using vbox. When I set up amahi on the vm can I use the orginal "install code" from my control panel. If so does that kill my existing amahi which is the sole dns for my lan as I have disabled dns in my router.

Hello,

Let me begin by saying that Amahi only integrates with Fedora 14 and Ubuntu 12.04. You can use any distro you desire for a client, but the HDA has to be on one of those two. We do not support anything else at this time.

It is not recommended to use the same install code. You can create additional HDA profiles with your amahi.org account, so recommend you do that for each you would like to test. As long as you don't let the VMs control the DHCP, you should not have any problems. if you do reuse the install code though it could cause conflicts and other issues.
