Amahi and seperate Drupal install

Postby starcrescent » Thu Jul 12, 2012 5:36 am

I am new to Amahi but already like it.

I have a home server running ubuntu 12.04 lts. After installing ubuntu I installed drupal manually because I wanted to use postgresql as a database instead of mysql.
I have a registered domain name mydomain.org. I was using drupal, transmission and webmin w/o problem. Then I installed amahi and I no longer access drupal. I am sure it is running. Just I cannot access it. I need to configure apache virtual server in such a way that if i enter http://www.mydomain.org to the browser it will be directed to drupal and if I enter http://mydomain.org/user_sessions/new it will direct me to my hda. Problem is I do not know how?

Any input will be greatly appreciated.

It is best that you use a new install of Ubuntu when installing Amahi. Using an existing one can cause issues.

Once you have Amahi installed, then set up the app you want to use. You could install the Amahi version of Drupal, then manually adjust it to use postgresql for the database. That would save you some hassle.

One note though, using domains with Amahi can prove challenging at times. Amahi uses virtual hosts which does not provide for the typical server access to apps. You can find guidance in the wiki that might help.

I read that wiki entry before posting. But what I want is different I want to access drupal from internet (outside) and amahi from my local network. That is why I installed drupal separately and not as a web app.

You can still do that if you follow the guidance in the link I provided. It takes a little work, but most have been successful.

If you can get it working the way you have it now, we would appreciate if you could add additional guidance to the wiki.

If you install Amahi fresh the drupal webapp installs fine from the available app list. No need to install it manually.
To make it visible from a domain use the wiki article cpg pointed you to. Mine works from drupal.mydomain.com using those directions.
Just letting you know it works. :)
