I'm a newbiw and have a problem setting up my HDA over SSL. I have set up a server before but now am having an issue setting up the AAL, I followe all of the commands and got the following error.
Stopping httpd: [ OK ]
Starting httpd: httpd: Could not reliably determine the server's fully qualified domain name, using ::1 for ServerName
[ OK ]
I followed teh wiki, using cut and paste got this meesage and done it all over again typing all the commands and strings. Any suggestions?
Access HDA over SSL
Re: Access HDA over SSL
That is a warning message and harmless. It will not affect operation of the SSL or your server.
If the SSL access is not working, then suggest you retrace your steps. Cut and paste from the wiki is discouraged as sometimes special characters are pulled in with the text that you do not see. This often causes problems.

Re: Access HDA over SSL
Thanks bigfoot. I had the problem doing the cut and paste route and decided to go for a fresh installation and typed all command lines but still getting the same issue.
I was accessing the server with VNC from my windows 7 machine and since restarting the pc can't access teh server. Getting annoyed as I had a stable system running on a 2tb drive that was running out of space and decided to do fresh install on a 300gb drive and poolt the 2tb with another 2tb drive I had just bought, beginning to regret it.

Re: Access HDA over SSL
I presume you are using the HDA for your DHCP/DNS server functions. When you rebuild your HDA, you have to cycle the network to get all the clients on the same DHCP server. Recommend you shut down your network, then start it up one device at a time beginning with modem, router, and HDA. Once all is working, then bring up the clients.
Keep in mind the message you receive when restarting the web server is just a warning and nothing to be concerned about. It is normal and has no affect on the HDA.

Thanks bigfoot. I'll give it a go and see what happens.
Re: Access HDA over SSL
Still can't get the https://hda on my windows machine but bonus is that I now have a server that I can see on my network. I don't know why but the router was showing as DHCP active, was sure it had been turned off before. Not to fussed about accessing the dashboard on my windows machine when I can use VNC to access the server remotely.
Now to add the additional drives, think this will be another long evening.

Re: Access HDA over SSL
Best thing might be to put the dashboard back as http. There are other issues you will encounter with making https, such as when you try to make things accessible outside your network.
That mod was documented by a user, so no guarantee it will work.

Re: Access HDA over SSL
Quick update. I tried to access the dashboard from my netbook running XP and I could access it without a problem but still can't access https//hda from my pc running windows 7.
I added the 2 additional drives and added one for the shares with another added for greypool and was about to start adding my videos and music bac on to the sever and I can't access the folders listed as shares on the server but strangely can access my personal files for the server on both the netwook and pc.
All of the folders were set up when I had the stable set up running. Any ideas?

Re: Access HDA over SSL
Did you restart the network? Also consider checking out the shares troubleshooter.

Re: Access HDA over SSL
Hi bigfoot,
I restarted everything on the network and that's why I tried the netbook, I'll have a look at the shares troubleshooter see if the makes any difference, if all else fails I'll start all over again and forget about SSL and just try to get a stable system up and running.
